September’s Film: The Amateur

• The Amateur is a 2025 American action thriller film. CIA cryptographer Charlie Heller is devastated when his wife, Sarah, is killed in a terrorist attack. Discovering her death was tied to a botched arms deal and corrupt CIA operations, he uncovers evidence implicating his boss, Alex Moore, in illegal drone strikes. Despite setbacks and internal betrayal, Charlie methodically eliminates the culprits. With justice served and corruption exposed, Charlie finishes restoring his Cessna and flies it, honouring Sarah’s memory.

October’s Film: The Thursday Night Murder Club

• The Thursday Night Murder Club is a 2025 crime comedy film, based on the 2020 novel by Richard Osman. The film stars Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie, with other famous actors in supporting roles. Its plot follows a group of elderly amateur sleuths who attempt to solve a murder. One was a spy, one was a nurse, one was a trade union official and one was a psychiatrist.
